International Women’s Day is an international day where the achievements, strength and contribution of women is celebrated, equality, empowerment and respect for each other is promoted. To commemorate this significant occasion, Sree Abirami College of Nursing, Coimbatore arranged a grand and interactive International Women’s Day Celebration in the Nursing Auditorium on 14th March 2026.
This activity was planned by the Department of Mental Health Nursing, Sree Abirami Institutions, under the supervision of the Department of mental health nursing, Sree Abirami Institutions, guided by Dr. A. Arvin Babu, in which students and faculty members took part and exhibited their creative skills as well as interactive communication.
Celebrating Women's Empowerment Through a Meaningful Theme
The programme was done under a very motivating theme:
“Give to Gain – Empowered women empower the world.”
This theme focused on the aspect of uplifting one another and building self-confidence so that leadership skills could be developed. In this case, it was a message to all people that once women are empowered, their contributions towards the development of families, communities and society at large become quite critical.
In this celebration, it was the time for the people present to recall how the unity, respect and advancement that women bring about will shape the future.
Anthakshari Competition Brings Energy and Enthusiasm
In conjunction with the Women’s Day Celebration, an Anthakshari Competition was held from 2.00 PM onwards in the Nursing Auditorium. The students and teachers joined the event with great enthusiasm and the event was full of happiness and fun during the entire programme.
The popular musical game, Anthakshari, gave a platform to the participants to demonstrate their musical skills, quick wits and team spirit. The competition turned out to be an outstanding tool of engaging people in the event, encouraging them to communicate constructively, as well as creating a bond and friendship between the participants.
Since the participants were engaged in the competition with a lot of enthusiasm, music and laughter filled the hall from time to time, making the event memorable for all those present there.
Promoting Confidence, Creativity, and Team Spirit
In addition to entertainment, the Anthakshari event was an opportunity for the students to learn various personal and social skills. Students were able to show through their involvement that they could:
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Trust in the ability of the public to engage in public participation activities
- Creativity and spontaneity
- Cultural awareness and appreciation
- Positive social interaction
The program turned out to be an enormous success as apart from being a place where people could unwind and have fun, it was an important occasion for gaining knowledge and establishing connections.
A Celebration of Unity and Cultural Harmony
The students and teachers were considered as a team, which was one of the highlights of the program. As everybody was taking part actively, there was a warm atmosphere that enabled people to value the talents of others.
This program reflected the principles of Sree Abirami Institutions including equality, respect and solidarity. The programme fostered good relationships in society and a positive attitude of encouraging and supporting each other through music and their involvement.
The event also highlighted the importance of celebrating women’s achievements and contributions, and encouraged students to take on leadership positions, build confidence and resilience in their lives, and to contribute to the community.
Honouring Participation and Success
The programme finished with the announcement of the winners of the competition who were proud of their being enthusiastic, talented and team players. The programme ended successfully because of the co-operation shown by the management, organizing committee, faculty, participants, and the audience which made the whole event lively.
All those who contributed to make the Women’s Day celebration memorable and significant deserve to be thanked.
Inspiring a Future of Equality and Empowerment
The International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 at Sree Abirami College of Nursing was indeed not just a cultural program but a celebration of the power and strength of women. It was a day for celebrating the power, talent and potential of women. Through the program, which incorporated music, collaboration, and participation, there were common bonds that helped instill values of empowerment, togetherness and mutual respect.
Such activities will aid in developing self-confidence, cultural competency and social responsibility among healthcare professionals of tomorrow, since they continue being encouraged to develop holistically in the university.
We are all together to celebrate the successes and the numerous achievements of our womenfolk, and motivate them to forge an egalitarian future that is empowering and supportive for women in particular.
